The Bunkie Chamber writes:

"Lots of things going on with the chamber.  The Krewe of Cronus Ball was a complete success and loads of fun.  If someone didn't have a good time, it was because they weren't there.  The Debs were beautiful and Barry Badon and the Bayou Boys never stopped.  It was four hours of continuous music and they were great.  If you enjoyed their music, you will be able to hear them again at the Corn Festival on Saturday night from 8:00 to 12:00 and they won't stop. Jill Tate was our photographer and you can go to her website to see pictures and also Barry's website  Thanks to Margie and Vickey.

The Louisiana Corn Festival Queen's Pageant will be held April 22,  2006.  It will start at 9:00 AM with the little boys going first, then seven little girls division will follow. The Junior, Teen, Miss and Ms. divisions will have interviews in the afternoon and then evening gown competition will start at 6:00 P M.  We have opened the younger divisions to statewide and the older divisions will be Avoyelles Parish and all parishes touching Avoyelles.

The 5K Run will also take place April 22, 2006.  There are 5 age divisions and there will be male and female categories.  Registration fees are $15.00, with cash prizes.  There will be a Corn Festival T-shirt for each participate.  Contact the chamber for more info  346-2575.

The winner of our T-shirt design contest is Joe Merrick.  Joe is the artist, who has painted the beautiful murals around town. It is really a great shirt.  There should be plenty of shirts but please buy them early.  We had limited our shirts last year because of the excess amount, we were having left over.  The Corn Festival depends on sponsorships and the money we make on our T-shirts so we really can't afford to pay for these shirts and have a lot left over.

The Louisiana Corn Festival will be June 9, 10, & 11th.  We have changed up the dates on a few of the events.  It should be a fun filled weekend.  We will have our search for the "Corn Idol" and this will be the second year for the Children's Parade so start getting ideas.  We had some great entries last year.  The Festival Schedules will be out as soon as we finalize our bands and activities.  Thanks for everyone's support!!"
