The 1954 Bunavola had two pages dedicated
to the first graduates from Bunkie High School. The following is
a quote from those pages.
"We are proud to dedicate this book to the class of
1904, the first to graduate from Bunkie High. This year 1954,
commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of our school.
There were four members of that first class - - Dick Adair,
Walter Aymond, Hugh Harvey, and Ned Taliaferro.
Mr. Dick Adair and Mr. Hugh Harvey, we could find nothing about,
not even old photographs.
Mr. Walter Aymond, after graduation, went on to Bliss Electrical
School in Washington, D.C. He served his country in the first
World War and Died in 1920.
The only living member today, Col. Ned Taliaferro, graduated
from V.M.I. in 1907 and Cornell University in 1908 as a Civil
Engineer. He built the Florida East Railroad through the
Everglades, and served his country in World War I in France.
After this, he became a regular army man, being promoted to the
rank of Colonel and serving in Hawaii and the Philippines.
During World War II he was in charge of Military Camps
throughout the United States. He is now retired and living in
