MARGARET DELAFOSSE: I WAS TOO YOUNG FOR THE BLUE MOON BUT I CAN CERTAINLY REMEMBER MY OLDEST SISTER GETTING TO GO AND COMING BACK AND TELLING US ALL ABOUT IT ..ALL I COULD PICTURE WAS A BIG BLUE MOON HANGING OVER. THATS HOW I PICTURED IT. I WAS PROBABLY 5 OR 6 ....BUT IT WAS LIKE A FAIRY TALE HEARING ABOUT IT. |

Glynn Kohler: I
don't remember ever being in the building but I do remember the night the
Blue Moon burned. We were on our way home form Alexandria and we began
seeing a glow in the sky somewhere north of Chenneyville. We all had our
guess as to what was burning and nobody considered that it might be the
Blue Moon. It seems that the mirrored ball that hung over the dance floor made its way to the Dub Davis skating rink - which I think also burned - and was hanging over the center of the rink. |
Lester Rabalais:
Ah yes the memories of the dances at the Blue
moon in the Early to Mid Fifties. If I remember correctly, there was a
chain smoking doctors nurse who sold the tickets and was a referee, and
several times I was taken off the dance floor with my partner, because
we were accused of doing the "Dirty Bop", instead of just Jitterbugging.
It was the best dance floor around, except for one at a night club in
Ville Platte if I remember correctly. Class of 56
